My Story

I am striding for Palestinians in aid of Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), on behalf of our grassroots anti-racism educational space, Scottish Anti-Racism Education (SARE).

I am the granddaughter of a former revolutionary / freedom fighter for India's independence from British colonial rule. It is, hence, really important for me to channel my ancestry in whatever ways I can, to stand up against these absolute acts of depravity as we are forced to witness our various governments' complicity and collusion with the zionist regime, and the ongoing effects of colonialism in its various forms.

I have been in activism and community engagement for a while, advocating for equity across sectors. I lost use of my right leg due to an injury more than three-and-a-half years ago (September 2021). I was immobile and bedridden for a few months, and slowly started walking again just before I rejoined academic studies in September 2022. My mobility and healing have been a work-in-progress and, I am now walking distances that took me more than 1 to 1.5 hrs a year-and-a-half ago, in 20 minutes. This has been a milestone in my recovery, whilst battling anxiety. Hence, I am very grateful to be able to focus my mobility and healing towards this crucial fundraiser, while the zionist regime blocks off aid and engages in the systemic starvation of the Palestinian people and children.

I have friends whose lives have drastically changed over the past few years due to the onset of autoimmune diseases, and I know they would want / would have wanted to do, whatever they can / could have to support the Palestinian people. I am, therefore, so grateful to also be doing this on behalf of those friends who are with me in spirit, all of my friends whose families have been martyred, those who have never been able to go back to their homeland, and so many who are the kindest, most empathetic souls I have ever met.

Starting on Nakba Day, I will be completing 107km in one month and virtually covering the distance from Occupied East Jerusalem to Gaza. It is our intention on SARE to do whatever we can and every little bit that we can, to send aid and support the Palestinians' right to self-determination. Our voices matter more than ever so we can rise up against this ongoing Holocaust.
